Finding A Balance

You will never grasp or master the intricate epitome of movement with force. Instead be open and receptive. With an empty hand, be a conduit, be a foundation for it to coalesce within you. Absorb this energy, be a calm place, (if only for a time) to allow chaos and complexity to be still. The harder you grab at water the faster and with more force its amorphous quality leaves your control. (What nebulous hyperbole conjecture I’m I talking about? It could be something as simple as walking a tight-rope or approaching an interest for the first time) It is the dichotomy of extolling innervation while maintaining balance in the face of fear.

I want to first give you the reference point of alignment-posture-power-balance. Then you may understand and think about your body moving thru space in a very specific manner. And only then from this point we can transition from movements/positions of most effective to least effective.

When I take any new student who has not yet had this conversation (about movement), I simply ask them to demonstrate a plank and then a pushup. I will then have 10 people do 10 different interpretations and explain their body mechanics 10 different ways.

But.

There is a most efficient skeletal position. One based in physics (Tension. Torque. Gravity. Support. Fulcrums. etc.) So we have this conversation and from then on a new enlightenment of body awareness is created. This newly developing consciousness is molded into all proceeding movement-skills, be it (running swimming biking. kettle-bells. bodyweight. barbells. fighting. flexibility. sport. on and on.)

Let us all get on the same page about body awareness so we can have a civil discourse about what truly is practical application of quality-movement (safe. smart. effective. accessible. personalized). Think: Quality over quantity. Control over output. Practice over performance. Long-term over short-term.

Health Happiness & Vitality. The good stuff we can start today and practice until the end of our days.

Note:
There are a handfull of teachers/movers that I align with in practice. But, even we each have diffeent eduaction (references) and experiences which bring us to this moment. Anyone can have the keys, but not everyone can “baby” the choke and throtle/clutch just right… You have to turn the key a few times before you get it just right (experience). Make a move. Educate yourself. Get the engine started.

The reason we train (I teach) is to find (show) the few movement concepts that will transfer into any physical expressionism.
